Notes on Proper Seat Mounting:
1. It is important that your seat not be mounted in a bind. Struts should be bolted to the seat unless the strut is on a parallel plane with the seat. This means that if your seat strut has a large distance between the seat at the front compared to the back, it is in a bind. Same with the front struts.
2. When finished mounting the seat, tighten all the bolts very tight and let the kart sit in the sun for a day. Once this is through, loosen all the bolts that attach the seat to the struts until you can barely spin the nuts with your fingers. ONLY do this if you are using locking nuts. Loosen up a little where your seat struts mount to the frame. Leave the engine side rear seat strut bolts where they attach to the frame almost loose. Install a hose clamp next to the seat strut on the engine side of the chassis on the cross frame rail bar. This will serve as a "locking collar" so the seat does not slide in the back.
3. Seat mounting-Generally, the seat should be pointing slightly toward the right front of the kart at the front closest to the steering post upright. Adult seats are usually almost right up against the upright unless the driver is light in weight. In this case the seat would be mounted a little further back toward the rear of the kart. Child seats are usually mounted 2-3 inches off of the steering post upright. Seat heights will vary but here is a good starting point:
-Child Small- Low grip tracks with a average weight driver mount 14-15 inches off of the top of the axle. Heavier drivers, mount lower. High grip tracks 12-13 inches off of the top of the axle. Mount a little lower for heavier drivers. Bottom of the seat is just about the bottom of the kart.
-Adult Small-Low grip tracks with a average weight driver mount 12-13 inches off of the top of the axle. Heavier drivers, mount lower. High grip tracks 9 3/4-11 inches off of the top of the axle. Mount a little lower for heavier drivers. Bottom of the seat is flush with the bottom frame rail.
-Medium-Low grip tracks with a average weight driver mount 11-13 inches off of the top of the axle. Heavier drivers, mount lower. High grip tracks 9-11 inches off of the top of the axle. Mount a little lower for heavier drivers. Bottom of the seat is flush with the bottom frame rail.
-Large-Low grip tracks with a average weight driver mount 10-12 inches off of the top of the axle. Heavier drivers, mount lower. High grip tracks 8 1/2-10 inches off of the top of the axle. Mount a little lower for heavier drivers. Bottom of the seat is flush with the bottom frame rail.
-Extra Large-Low grip tracks with a average weight driver mount 10-12 inches off of the top of the axle. Heavier drivers, mount lower. High grip tracks 8-10 inches off of the top of the axle. Mount a little lower for heavier drivers. Bottom of the seat is flush with the bottom frame rail.
-2X Large-Low grip tracks with a average weight driver mount 10-11 inches off of the top of the axle. Heavier drivers, mount lower. High grip tracks 8-10 inches off of the top of the axle. Mount a little lower for heavier drivers. Bottom of the seat is flush with the bottom frame rail.
This new seat was designed for performance and comfort for the driver. Hand laid for superior quality. Girls love it as well!
Consistency in the lip on the side and in the glass thickness make for a good seat that transfer your weight properly!
Positioning the drivers weight for dynamic weight transfer is critical. Our design has been the best in performance in testing and the driver is comfortable! Nice.
On the new Gecker Motorsports Kart, we know how important the seat is. That is why we made our own. That is also why we are mounting it for you! If it is not right, redo it! See this kart has no seat?
This is a large seat installed in our new kart. This seat is installed correctly. This is the kart we ran 5th with at Tunica.
